I have working ANT+ on my backup phone, but it's buggy and keeps erroring on my primary phone - it says it works but it doesn't stay connected to the sensors. Both Moto Potter, both running exactly the same ROM image. Could be
I can't make the backup phone my primary because the camera lens is cracked and the battery is going downhill, guess I have no choice but to debug it
adb backup
doesn't. or, if it does, restore
won't.
Si glad I tested with a spare handset
Hey, #degoogled #android folk - what do you use for backup? Seedvault looks nice but I don't have android 11; oandbackupx has mad complicated UI and doesn't seem to remember which apps I told it to backup
Ant+ not supported by Moto on the G5 Plus ("potter") but the hardware supports it fine if you build your own ROM. FOSS FTW
"While lead-free solder performs excellently, there are areas where lead solder performs better compared to lead-free solder. First, lead solder is relatively easy to handle. Even if a toddler ingests or eats it, the body absorbs it as toxic. "
Going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that this did make sense in whatever language it was translated into English from
unsure what computer is doing, but at least my knees are warm
Ask me again in a couple of hours, but I think I am building an Android image with ANT library support builtin
(This is - for me - worth doing, because the libraries in question are not on F-Droid and it otherwise requires tedious mucking around on maybe-dodgy sites like ApkPure. Although it now occurs to me that making an F-Droid App Repo would have been an even better idea)

I want a top titlebar that slides in and out of view
So that the page scrolling is jerky and the text jumps up and down as I read it
First outdoor bike ride in a week (the weather in UK has improved dramatically), dogfooding my new bike computer app. Lessons learned
I have addressed the latter two, but will have to wait until tomorrow to see if green on black is more visible in sunlight than the dark grey on white I previously had:
Pretty it is not
gradlew. Is it pronounced "gradel doubleyou" or "gradloo"?
"Biscuit" seemed like such a good name for an android app at the time, but coming up with a good icon is ... challenging
Two contrasting approaches:
Now try and guess which of the two projects I have running on my phone
Hi, just flashed lineage-17.1-20210125-microG-blueline.zip via ADB sideload...
GitHubDisclaimer upfront: I don't know what I'm doing and haven't...
GitHubI built lineageos 15.1 (Oreo) from source and I am mildly stunned that it seems to have worked first time

(Her name is Oreo and she dances on the sands)
I tried #KawaScheme a while ago, and it seemed okay. As you say, though, #Android has gotten a lot more complicated.
I've owned an X1 Carbon gen 4 (2016 model) since it was released in 2016 and only just noticed today that it has three USB ports not two.
Why did I think it would be a quick simple thing to write an android app?
Pretty sure there weren't this many fricking moving parts when I last tried in 2009

the GuardianIf you ever wondered whats inside a miniature #ant+ usb stick, I took mine apart to see. The IC is stuck to the back of the usb contacts themselves
Now, how best to attach a microusb type b connector to it ...
+1 - evenutally found my usb otg adapter -1 - garmin ant stick is usb1 which is apparently not supported by Android's USB ANT library
NaN - still trying to find ANT software for Linux that I can use to query speed/cadence sensor
Went to look in my random usb sticks collection to see if I had a Bluetooth transceiver that could be hacked into an ANT dongle. Found an ANT dongle
Which is good, because I think that reprogramming a Bluetooth one might be an unrealistic target for my current skill level
@vaillancourtmax@mstdn.io this is a pretty random question, but I searched for "zwift x230" and what did I find but your page at https://maximevaillancourt.com/blog/why-i-use-a-thinkpad-x220-in-2019 ...
I have a ssd and 16GB in my x230 (which, like you, I very much prefer to the 2018 Mac my employer assigns me), do you think zwift is going to work acceptably well?
(Double points if it'll work in Linux - wine? qemu?)
Extensibility, compatibility, and reliability.
